Sempre amei o Cinema. Para mim, a “Sétima” é a Grande Arte, pelo o seu poder em sintetizar todas as outras. Needless to say.

Talvez se tivesse nascido nos EUA  e tido a oportunidade de começar uma carreira como aprendiz do grande Mestre Roger Corman,  assim como muitos diretores atuais começaram, teria feito cinema. Mas esse não foi o caso – tampouco me arrependo, pois hoje também desenho.

Em 2002, trabalhando em publicidade e, a cada dia que passava, me dando conta que aquilo não era o que eu buscava na vida, saí para fumar um cigarro nos fundos do edifício e fiquei olhando para as gigantescas máquinas de ar condicionado numa velha parede de tijolos brancos.

Naquele momento eu soube que tinha que fazer filmes!

LAGARTIJA NIKA foi o primeiro projeto.

Pedi demissão e com o dinheiro guardado vivi um ano preparando o filme.  Contei com o apoio de amigos para realizá-lo. Éramos poucos: 4 nas filmagens (incluindo a atriz), 1 na edição do filme e 1 na edição do som.
 Acredito que o resultado seja satisfatório para um projeto tão low-budget e guerrilla style.
 Eventualmente foi reconhecido e passou por alguns festivais, inclusive pelo Japão – um país com tradição no insólito, no terror e no bizarro.

Na época, não conhecia o Final Cut e dependia de um editor. Como trabalhamos em sistema de permuta, eu contava apenas com o tempo livre da produtora e várias seqüências do filme ficaram a desejar. 
Hoje, pude remasterizar o filme, da maneira que sempre quis; retocando, retirando e mesmo adicionando novas seqüências.

Apenas anos depois pude me organizar para um outro projeto cinematográfico, pois tinha que ganhar a vida com a outra profissão que sempre amei e que havia voltado a me dedicar, a de Ilustrador.
Trabalhava freelancer em meu estúdio e já havia criado outro roteiro, mas me parecia impossível realizá-lo por ser muito técnico, repleto de efeitos especiais. Exigiria muito dinheiro…

Em 2008, após ter participando de duas filmagens como 1º Assistente de Direção e como consultor de dois grandes amigos e diretores, Jõao de Mendonça, no filme IDORU,  e Alberto Lopez, no filme LE VISAGE, um filmado em Nova York e outro em Bruxelas, voltei para o Brasil decidido a produzir, a qualquer custo, o meu filme.

E assim foi.

Em dezembro de 2008, com a ajuda de um outro grande amigo, irmão, mestre no 3D e sócio no crime, Renato Sbardelotto, tornou-se realidade o segundo projeto: ANALOG.

Novamente feito com dinheiro próprio e a ajuda de um punhado de amigos que se dedicaram 100% ao projeto, dando o sangue para para torná-lo realidade.
Atualmente estou na fase de captação de recursos para o terceiro projeto desta série de curta metragens. O título, ainda um mistério…

I’ve always loved the movies. For me, the “Seventh” is the Great Art, due to it’s ability in gathering and synthesizing all others. Needless to say.

Maybe, had I been born in the US and had the opportunity to begin a career as one of Master Roger Corman’s pupils, as many of today’s directors have, I would have only done movies. But, that was not the case.

In 2002, working in advertisement and, as days passes by, realizing more and more that truly that was not what I wanted to do with my life, I went outside the building to smoke a cigarette and couldn’t stop starring at these huge air conditioning machines by an old white brick wall.

Right there, at that instant, I knew that I had to make movies.

LAGARTIJA NIKA was my first project. I asked to be fired from the agency and, with that money, I got along for a year and prepared the film.
I had some friends that supported me. We were few: 4 during the shooting (including the actress), 1 for FCP editing and another for sound editing.
I find the outcome of the film to be quite satisfying  for such a low budget and guerrilla style film.
Eventually it got some recognition and made it’s way into some festivals, including one in Japan, which was most gratifying since they do have a tradition for the uncommon, the bizarre and the horror genre.

At the time I didn’t know FCP and truly depended on an editor. Since we worked in a form of exchange, I only had at my disposal the company’s free time and, therefore, many of the sequences were never my favorites. But today, years later, I was able to remaster the film, in the way I’ve  always wanted to; retouching, removing and even adding new sequences.

Only years later would I be able to organize myself for a new project, for I had to make a living, and that would be with the only other profession that I really love: the one of an Illustrator.
I worked freelance in my studio and already had a script, but it seemed to me quite impossible to produce, since it was too technical and full of special effects. I would need some cash…

But in 2008, after working as a 1st Assistant and Consultant for two great friends of mine, João de Mendonça, in the film IDURU, and Alberto Lopez, in LE VISAGE, one in New York and the other in Brussels, I came back to Brazil determined that, at any cost, I would shoot my film.

And so it was.

In December 2008, with the help of another great friend and brother, Renato Sbardelotto, my partner in crime and 3D Master, my second film became a reality: ANALOG.

Once again, made with my petty cash and with the help of some amazing friends that gave 100% of their hearts and souls to make it a reality.
Currently I’m searching for funds to shoot my 3rd project in these series. The title, still unknown…
